Description
The Lesser Finches lack the brilliant color of their Goldfinch cousins. The golden color is more muted and I see a bit of green tint depending on the light. At least some of these birds spend the entire year in the Monterey area. I saw these on a trail inside Fort Ord National Monument. I first painted them with a darker background then decided to try the same pose with a lighter look to suggest spring or summer.
